Bewildering..
Er.. This comment is sorta late, but nevertheless bothers me and, I dare to say all Singaporean men.. No prize for guessing what it is. Yes, a 'man' who eloped with his piano to Britain and never returned to his supposed 'homeland' till near 40 yrs on.The action itself is disgraceful, in my very personal opinion, very very very disgraceful and un-manly. One might argue that he had got a dream to pursue. F***.. Which guy doesn't? Even if it's juz a slacker whose dream is to woo girls and have fun. It IS still a dream isn't it? And he's had to put off his dream for a good 2 years to serve his nation.. Why can't the very talented man do so.. Ok, he did his disgraceful act and made that dickhead decision donkey years ago so let's not dwell on it..More bewildering to guys must be the punishment meted out to the now-British upon his return to Singapore. He was fined an undisclosed fee, but the law stipulates the maximum fine is $5,000.. Wtf!! Ok, the law did not allow the judge to rule more than that. So that means, time to change the maximum fine!!! What's more, $5,000 is really peanuts to a pianist of calibre, who earns his living in Sterling Pound.. S$5,000 equates to slightly more than 1,500 pounds.. Which means the S$5,000 fine most probably means like what S$1,500 is to us. Oh yah, forgot he is so much richer than us mere mortal who don't have the balls to 'elope'.. Imagining you paying S$1,500 for running away from NS.. I'd gladly do it MAN!!! Fuck.. Are the youths of all the Singaporean men worth only S$750 individually, yearly?!?!Seriously, time to change the constituent. I hope they bring it up in the next Parliament meeting and pass it immediately.. Raise it to at lest a figure in the region of S$50,000 or more.. And lastly, the judge obviously could have thrown that defector into jail! For a maximum of 3 years? Why the hell didn't he do so?!?! Cos he can't bring his piano in? Den maybe be nicer and allow him to bring his piano in, or at least buy him a electronic keyboard like the one my nephew plays with..
Morning call..
Was half awake in bed this morning, enjoying the cool weather. Wanna nuah some more cos now my weekdays all gotta wake up early. Damn sian.. Mon-Wed lessons are at 8am.. Means I gotta climb out of my cosy bed at 6.15.. Preparation for NS. Haha.. Ok, back to the pt. Was floating in and out of 'consciousness' when my handphone rang.. I scrambled to answer the call. The caller ID displayed "Unknown" and I was wondering who it was. In my ultra sleepy state and voice, "hhelo......""HAARRLLOOOWWW!!!!" the voice at the other end screamed. Ok, not scream.. But it was a very excited voice.. I was wondering wad the hell.. Gave a few more "hellos" to the caller. The voice was very familiar, but my brain haven't boot up properly (probably only doing 'memory test' at that point of time), so I cannot recognise who it was. I was gonna ask in a very bei song voice (obviously this seemed like a prank call to me.. heh..) "Who are you?!". But before I could ask, caller said "Jo LA!!!!" "Huh?!" "Joanna LAAAA".. Ok, register liao. haha. She said,"Wa.. you very pig leh, now wad time still sleeping." I retorted," XIAO JIE.. Now only 9+ lor, Saturday LEHHH..." Haha.. All seems so familiar.. The friendly bickering on phones, scolding each otehr "Ni hen ZHU leh!!" Haha.. Bleah!! Went on to chat for half an hour more.. Talking crap.. I asked her if her eyes twitched last night and burst out laughing. Heh.. Den she thought for a moment before exclaiming, "Ni men zhe xie zhu.. Zai wo bei hou jiang wo!!" Heh.. Told her about our views on her having a relationship in UK.. Heh.. Hung up when she wanna go hang herself, oops. I mean her laundry. Hehe.Today muz be a day of Mei Li a.k.a Joanna. Saw her brother (real brother. not brudder brudder kind of brother) at Hougang Mall. Queueing behind me for Bubble Tea. hehe.. I turned around and saw him. Den I said, "Hello." He looked at me, puzzled. Give me the "do i know you" kind of face. hahaha.. So I said, "Joanna's fren." He took awhile to register. Probably he found me familiar but couldnt figure out who I was initially. Heh. So we shook hands. And said a few words before I sipped away with my Mango bubble tea.To Gang: Meili 'begged' with me, asking us to stop calling her Meili if not she'll smack us from half the globe away. Heh.. Ok, she just said "I'm gonna smack you all!!!". Haha.. And also, she told me sth juicy.. Heh.. Next time meet up we'll let Meili's eyes twitch thousands of miles away.. =DThanks for the call, Jo.. Wad a good way to start my Saturday.. =)
Cool...
The weather has been cool the past 2 days.. Quite shiok.. But also means I have difficulty waking up early in the morning for lessons.. Grr.. Nearly din make it today, so nice to nuah.. But managed to pull myself out of bed 20 mins after the alarm rang.. Think I wanna slp soon..Sis passed her driving today. She got 18pts. And she said the tester gave her chance.. I shan't say how, in case the state censors are reading my blog and decide to track down my sis and the tester and sack the tester and revoke my sis' licence and make her take it again. Like wad the hell right, wad am I talking about. haha. Nvm.. But she passed, first time.. Means, if what Gab says is anything to go by, my family now is filled with 'buay gan' pple, who pass their driving first time, cept my mom.. Jia lat.. Haha.. Crap.Think it'll be the weekend before my sis get to drive the car. Cos dad say need orientation first. Haha. Which is true, auto is different from manual. And our car is also bigger than the instructor's. Our car will don the bright triangle plates again soon. Though, they've turned abit pale sitting in the store room for nearly a year now.. Heh.. So fast.. I'm only 2 months away from my 2nd yr of holding a full licence. Felt like yesterday..My dad and sis are catching a cold. 2 of them machiam like having sneezing competition when we went out for dinner juz now, on the car in a confined environment some more.. -.- Dad says the wasabe at Sakae helped relief him of his runny nose... Quite true, after coming home from dinner, left my sis competing with herself for the top spot of the sneezing competition..Ah well, enough crapping. Long and tiring day in school... OOOH!! Before I forget, pple.. In your free time, try to watch a movie called "Erin Brokovich" starring Julia Roberts. Touching and very nice show based on a true story. Quite funny at some parts also.. So yeah.. Think tml during the 4 hrs break that I have, might go borrow "Bowling for Columbine" from lib to watch.. *shrugs*
People I meet..
It's been a tiring, yet rewarding and fulfilling weekend. Worked for Co-Org in a roadshow at Civic Plaza. On the surface, looks like a NEC roadshow. But it's actually jointly-sponsored by NEC and Intel.. Was asked to give out flyers along with other part-timers.. Damn tiring, but I got to meet some interesting people along the way. There's a few I remember, mostly old foreign couples who are extremely nice. They were from Norway, Pakistan, Aussie. There was this old dude who was alone from France too. The Aussie couple is younger, probably 30+.. I basically asked all of them where they're from etc and where they're headed to. Well, the Pakistani man was really really nice. I approached them with a "Good Afternoon, Sir and Maam" and a flyer in my hand. He said, "Oh, I don't need them, young man." And he patted me on my shoulder and gave me a broad smile. I was like whao! He is nice! So I started walking with them and asked them their Nationality.. The conversation went something like that.Man: Oh, we are from Pakistan. (He said a city's name but I can't remember now)Me: Oh! Pakistan, I see..Man: You know Pakistan?Me: Oh yes! Of Course I know.Man: Oh really?! You have friends from there?Me: Eh, not really. I have a friend who is born in Singapore but her ancestory is Pakistani.Man: Oh, that's good.By this time, we've come to the traffic junction. We stopped walking and shook hands and bade farewell. It was a very firm handshake. His hands are like damn big, can you imagine when I say his hands are like wrapped around mine? Maybe not literally so, but it feels that his hand is that huge. It certainly brightened up my day after standing for the 3 days and meeting a rude boy just before this guy.The Norwegian couple is nice too, this time it was the lady who talked to me.. The hubby talked to me briefly but was more interested in snapping pictures of the decors. Haha.. And so the lady asked me where to get some food.Me: Which kind of food are you looking for? Local or western?Lady: Oh, anything.. Any recommendations?Me: If you want to try Chinese cuisine, this restaurant is not too bad. (Pointing to the Ding Tai Feng sign)Lady: Oh, maybe not Chinese food today. Tomorrow or sth. Maybe some Italian food or something?Me: (Thinking hard) Erm, I can't really think of one particular restaurant to recommend, but if you walk down Orchard Road, I'm sure there is a restaurant to your liking. She thanked me and we smiled to each other, and me to the hubby too who smiled backed broadly before we bade our farewells.I think, my knowledge of Orchard Road still sucks. Grr.. Quite a number of people came asking me where to find this and that building or road, but I have no certain clue and certainly would not want to mislead them. So I just have to apologise profusely for my incompetence and ask them to spare me further agony and to ask other pple. hehe..Then there was this French guy. I greeted him and approached him and he stopped in his steps and took a flyer from me and had a look.Man: Oh, laptops! I'll take a look later, but I need to go to Singapore Airlines first.Me: Sir, where're you from? Man: FranceMe: I see.. So are you going to confirm the airtickets back to France at SIA?Man: Oh nono, I'm meeting a friend here to go to Australia.Me: Oh ok, so did you come to Singapore from France? (Ok, pardon me.. But I was quite bored giving out flyers and meeting a person willing to stop to talk to you is rare so I had to keep the conversation going by asking these sort of question. And I nearly ignited a bomb by doing that to this guy.)Man: Will you stop talking about France? I may be from France but I hate France.Me: (alot of dotsss now in my mind but I managed to say) Sorry sorry sir. I'm sorry.Man: It's ok. I'm retired now and I'm just travelling the world to spend my money.I think this dude is rich. Cos he said he has been travelling for 5 yrs. What the hell!! RICH!! ANd he said he found things in Singapore to be a little pricey. Which I agreed and gave a "what to do" kind of shrug. Haha.. But the conversation with him still ended well and I bade him goodbye and got back to my job. Now, on to the rude boy. Yes, BOY.. RUDE..He's probably at most 12? Or even younger.. He is only like slightly taller than my waist? So much so that when I gave him the flyer with my hands bent 90deg at the elbow, he had to raise his hands above his head to get it. Yes that's how short and young he is. This is the story:He was walking with 3 other older teens. Probably 16 yrs old and there about. I greeted them as they approached with a "Good Afternoon, Sir". Fuck, I feel like smacking my head against a car bonnet for being so nice to this particular dickhead. Well, the older ones were OK, they just shook their head, a guy even gave a grin to be nice. Den this little dickhead who was beside him, and nearest to me among the 4 of them. Used his 2 hands to take the flyer. After he take it, I said "Thank You" and turned away. (I feel like smashing my head against a brick wall now for saying thank you). After I turn away, I heard a "Zzzaah", as in the sound of paper tearing. And I turned and take a look. That dickhead not only tore my flyer, but he happily threw it on the floor. FUCKING BASTARD.. How rude and cock can one person get. I so wanted to throw the whole pile of flyers in my hand into the back of his head but of course, I didn't cos I was working. So i just took a deep breath and helped that cockhead clear up the litter he left on the floor and continued with my job.I'm just thinking. He is only like 12 yrs old at most. And he is sucha rebellious figure. He's even got tattoo on his back, can see cos it's halfway up the neck and he's wearing t-shirt. Cock.. I think the odds of him being a rebellious and non law-abiding figure next time is like 1.00.. Grr.. Seriously, I'm thinking where does he go from here.. I'm just glad that example like him is of extreme minority. BAH!!Anyway, kids I meet throughtout the 3 days brighten up my day too! They'll look at me, eager for me to recognise their presence by giving them a flyer. Hehe, which I will always do cos we have too many flyers to give too..On a sidenote, my back is bothering me. I'm just worried it maybe relapse of a old injury I had when I was young, cos it's somewhere around that position. I couldn't walk for a few days, and couldn't walk properly for a few weeks back then. *fingers crossed*
Disturbing..
Yesterday: Was kinda zombie-ish and dead-beaten, having only slp less than 4 hrs before going to school for lessons. Luckily it was only for the morning.. The tourism lesson nearly knocked me out, luckily it was the earlier of the 2 lessons, and I had some energy left in my under-charged body battery to last me through it. The later lesson, lecturer showed us Russell Peters' talk show. Had a good laugh(s) and helped me to stay awake. Daryl was dozing off beside me already (same as me, watched Man U match). The video was shown cos we were discussing about racism and stereotypes etc. Which is a familiar topic to Mass Commers already. But nonetheless, I think my lecturer packs enough experience in this area to take my understanding to deeper depths. After class it was lunchtime with the yr 1 gang.. Went into SIM managed to find seats but was disgusted with the long long queue. So? I merely passed a remark saying, "Let's go KAP in Lionel's car." (There were 7 of us! His (mum) car is a sedan, not MPV) And everyone agreed. Only Daryl keep saying "Feng (crazy) le.. Wo men feng le.." LOL.. But we still did it. 7 of us squeezed into his car and drove off to KAP.. Haha. At a traffic light junction opp. KAP, those at the back gamely waved to the driver of the car tht pulled beside ours and he waved back. Lol.. Irony, he had a MPV and only 2 passengers. But our sedan had to carry 7 pple. Hahaha..Nvm.. So in KAP liao.. After eating, some of them went back to school for lesson, while me, dil, daryl and cherie nuah at KAP.. And we saw some disturbing scenes. I was looking around as we were talking, then I saw this couple sitting at the corner table, which was 5m away, with the corner of my eye. Erm.. I saw something really disturbing.. The girl had her hand on his groin area, and to my horror, amazement, shock, whatever you call it.. The hand was moving, and it took less than 2 seconds for it to move from groin to there. Yes.. THERE.. I turned away and asked Cherie to see. Den she also notice liao and started ranting and raving about the girl so fugly. Haha.. Den Dil, being the curious soul she was, asked damn damn loudly, "what? what?" -.- And we did tell her.. And our conversation for the next 10 mins centred around those 2 daring pple. Wth la, it was 1pm, in a crowded KAP.. BIG ~diao~...Haiz.. And den just when we were about 10mins away from moving off, they moved off first. And we were just saying must be the guy cannot take it liao need to go somewhere to settle liao. Lol.. Normal remark in those circumstances.. Well, think we were quite proven right, cos when we did leave 10mins later and waited for a bus at the bus stop, they were behind us.. Hmm, wad were they doing in tht 10mins? Anybody's guess. =p Or maybe they just went to pick up something they need from Cold Storage.. *shrug*Caught "Doom" today during my 4-hours break.. An ok film la.. Not fantastic, not too bad either.. At least whiled my time away during that long break..
Glory Glory Man United!!
Yay!!!! Man U 1-0 Chelsea!!!!Am I happy?!?! You bet I am!! I'm over the moon actually.. In the most unlikely fashion, Man U displayed one of their best performance in recent months to halt Chelsea's 40-game unbeaten run!! Woohoo!!!Think I go slp first, gotta wake up at 0615hrs, look at the time now.. Less than 4 hrs of slp, but I dun care.. Man U won!! Lalalala... =D
Supper 'Roadtrip'
Went for supper last night.. Courtesy of Ziling driving us in her dad's Honda Civic..The night began after the last episode of Yong Bao Ming Tian. Rushed out, caught a bus to opposite Bowen to wait for a service 55 that would take me to our meeting point, Bishan MRT in 15 mins. But alas, I waited for 15 mins and the freaking bus still haven't come. So I phone GF, who was waiting at a few bus stops after mine for 55 also, and told him that I'll hail a cab and we'll head down to Bishan, if not they'll wait for very long..Took the front seat, naturally.. Cos I'm like the biggest sized. If I squeeze behind sure even less space for everyone at the back. Yah.. So we headed off! In search of the famous Geylang.. Haha.. But due to 6 pple in the car, who all had some ideas (that are differing from one anothers') of how to head to Geylang, the fun started. I had wanted to ask Ziling to head down towards Mel's place and hit straight to Paya Lebar, which I remember is very near our intended destination. But Kaiyi spoke out first and said that he knew of a shortcut, so I diam diam never say anything. Best la.. Roadtrip start liao. We really toured Sennett Estate, machiam like spying on Chiam See Tong's residents. But no la.. We (especially me) was on the constant lookout for traffic conditions, cos our dear Ms Long never see humps coming and never slow down at cornerings and what nots.. -.-"""" Aiya, in the end dunno where we go and spin. Ended up seeing Air Force Museum and Ubi Driving Centre and lots of unnecessary itinery before we ended up at Geylang. Hahaha.. But still not the end of it. We wanted to eat the Soya King thingy, which is at Lorong 9. But we parked at like Lorong 35?! And wanted to walk down.. Haha.. Swee liao. So me, kc and zl went back to the car and drove to pick up the 3 lazy buggers waiting at Lorong 33. And drove 2 streets down before we reach Lorong 9. I tell u, Singapore has some inconsiderate bastards around. You see, this car was in front of us. We thought he was waiting for a lot, he refused to inch forward so that cars behind (yes, there was a queue of cars behind him and no cars infront of him) have more room to divert out of the queue. Nvm, we are patient kids. Let him wait for lot or wad.. But he just refused to move like one tyre's circumference even?!??!! And best part of all, he wasn't waiting for a lot. He was waiting for his wife/gf (i think wife la cos the woman quite old and fugly liao. 30+) who came out with a big packet of you tiao and soya bean curds.. F*** la!! The HELL LOR! Inconsiderate bastards.. I so wanted to point a middle finger at the woman when she looked over at us nonchalantly. Yes she wasn't even apologetic for the acts of her inconsiderate husband. Cars were honking behind. Deserved it, you dumbass.Sigh, so nvm. Got a lot infront of a closed shop house and went for tao hway. OK LOR the food. Edible la.. But dunno why so famous.. I think the cold soya milk lose to Mr. Bean one, hands down. Not satisfied after soya bean.. (Jo, we never order Soya bean curd in rememberance of you. lol) and Went over to eat frog porridge. Sat down and wanna order liao b4 KC started telling us she ate a VERY BERY VERY BERY nice frog porridge which was beside the tao hway king.. -.-""" That's like, RIGHT OPPOSITE WHERE WE WERE?!??! Peng.. Why she never say earlier.. Den we were left in the dillemma of whether to pang seh the uncle and run over to the one opposite or not. haha. But we didn't la, probably cos Jo not here, we dun dare. Hahaha.. In the end juz eat from the stall we were at la. Not too bad. The congee was nice, like wad KL said. The porridge nicer than the soy sauce frog we ordered. Lol..The journey back was full of adventure too. Went passed a lot of unplanned itineries too, like Lavender MRT.. Inconsiderate GF hogged the front seat and left us to hang at the back. KC was almost sitting on the floor. Haha.. And Ziling din help by complaining she was blocking her rear view mirror, so she had to like squeeze and curl up into a ball. Lol.. We probably din help her also cos we cracked up jokes that KC laughed uncontrollably at in that limited space. Haha.. Think next time if got 6 pple, muz use my dad's car. the civic's leg room was alright for a 1.6l car but could have been wider? But it was fun alright. To ZL: Next time you got car can still call me, I'd gladly want to go for a spin. But advanced notice. So that can buy insurance and write a will. Lol. PLEASE... next time dun turn at such high speed. The car really got high chance of buang-ing. No kidding.. Thanks anyway. =)
Tired..
Yawn... Din get enough sleep. Now quite tired though it's only evening..Went to Weixiong's mum wake last night. She passed away on Monday morning after almost a decade long of battle with cancer. Weixiong flew in from Shanghai that very night. I must say Weixiong's mum is a real battler. She had recovered after first suffering from the illness when we were still in lower primary, but unfortunately suffered a relapse.. From what Weixiong said last night.. It's brain tumour rather than what I remembered as nose cancer. I think Weixiong is somewhat relieved that her mum has been relieved of her physical suffering. From what he told me, his mum couldn't hear him over the phone becos of the tumour and her speech is also slurred cos of it. I still have some vivid memories of her when I went to Weixiong's house to play during primary school days. She'd also send Weixiong to and from school when we were in lower primary. Rest well, auntie..Quite alot of pple turned up for the wake after I informed them. Weimin and Veronica in particular are those that we haven't seen in awhile.. It's nice to receive positive responses about attending the wake. Everyone makes it a point to make themselves available. No more nyeh nyeh like normal gatherings. Great work pple. And if you're reading this, Do Take Care, Weixiong.. And remember to bring ur 'Kimchi'!! Lol..
