Beijing Spectacular
Watched the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics on tv last night. Gosh, was it good. "Good" is an understatement. It was nothing short of spectacular. A classic showcase. I liked a lot of the segments. From the initial drums, to the art painting by dancers, to the movable type. Lovely. I particularly liked the drums segment. It's like a fusion of past and present; East and West. It's especially cool when the drummers coordinated so well to light up their drums during the countdown! Whoo!!
The idea of having the "footprints painting" was cool too. And it's amazing that it's became a portrait, of mountain, land and sea, and I presume the red coloured lane is the running track. Nice.. I'm also pleased to hear a slightly louder than normal cheer for our contingent when we were introduced to the crowd. Big Asian family. =)
It was just so so nice. It's indeed a "coming out party" for China. Sparing no efforts to make sure it's spectacular. And I think only China will pull off this kind of opening ceremony, in terms of mobilising so many of its people. In my words, "China has nothing but its people". Haha. And it's also amazing, that the only smoke in the Beijing air last night, was those from the fireworks. =p
Let the Games begin!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!!! Will be catching NDP in school today. How can I not do that?! It's my unit preparing for this year's showpiece! 3 Guards Aei! =)
