National Day Rally..

Ok, my 2nd post of the day. Just been reminded about the National Day Rally after watching the news.. Well, I guess the speech this year has got nothing as exciting as last year's 5-day week announcement.. But nonetheless, something has got me a little excited..

Of course, it's something that concerns me.. It is the Bachelor degree courses that polys are gonna offer in cooperation with foreign universities.. Yay! It means I can have the option of studying in Singapore if I want to! Haha.. But hmm.. Still wondering whether I should go overseas or not. But well, at least another option! =D

And another probably exciting thing is seeing how Chinese-education scene is gonna change for the better, hopefully so.. *fingers crossed*

Tiring but enriching day..

Ok.. Finally today is a good day for photo-taking. Haha.. Went out for the whole day snapping pictures. But alas. Think I can never take more than a roll in a day, or can I? I just simply runout of inspiration and gets too tired and perspiring like shit that I just wanna hop onto a bus or train..

Lemme see, I went to Tiong Bahru first. Walked around to find those old housing apartment around the market there. Snapped half a roll down there.. Got a few blocks seemed deserted already, or maybe converted to some worker's quarters already? Cos got locked gates all this and I see some curtains behind closed windows.. Hmm, or maybe the residents have just been evicted not long ago? But it sure is nice seeing those buildings man! After that area, walked to another old old evicted housing block, somewhere nearer to Great World City.. That one, has got no locked grille gates.. Though it's been 90% fenced up.. An opening was left for people to cut through the lock to get to the other side, which still has residents and shops. So I ventured under the block. Snapping some pics here and there. And wondering if I should go upstairs to check it out. After awhile, decided to go up. Wa kaoz. Damn damn eerie. Even when it was in the day.. -.- Doors were left open, it was certainly the kind of place I dreamt of taking.. But the lighting was not there. Damn dark, even in the day... -.- Sigh. I was down in a minute. Partly for fear of seeing things. At that moment, the fact that it's the 7th lunar month just can't get out of my mind.. *Shiver*

Haha.. Ok, after that, walked to Chinatown.. But din shoot in the end, decided that I'll come early one day before all the business get under way, probably I shall go tml morning. Heh.. Had lunch at the hawker there. OOh.. There's this stall there which sells great dessert. My 2nd time patronising the lady today.. Last week had bobo-chacha there.. It was great! Many yams and many sweet potatoes. Enough coconut milk, and the ice was grined to fine perfection! Remains solid when u use the spoon to stir it, but melts in your mouth.. Yes.. That's wad impressed me most I guess, cos alot of ice nowadays are left too coarse..

Eh, then made a suicidal thought of taking a bus to Changi V!! Haha.. Service no. 2 from SGH there all the way to Changi V!! And I actually did that!! Haha.. Decided that I needa snap some colonial-era structures so yeah.. Headed down to Changi.. Things have changed there, the old jetty no longer exists, but the bridge was still there, so I snap some shots of it.. Walked to down to those Netharavon bungalows to snap some shots thereafter.. Nice.. Built in 1938.. Sq had her orientation camp there last month.. Nice.. The exterior left largely untouched except for repainting, the doors and windows are still old. Just that the locks are new, for obvious reasons? Haha.. Had wanted to stay longer there, but I was soon attacked by mosquitoes! Damn.. So decided that I should quickly get outta there, and it was like 5pm already.. Had wanted to take the old Changi hospital.. But I was damn itchily irritated, so gave it a miss.. Shall be back if I need to..

Headed down to Malay Village via train after that.. But by that time, it was 6 liao.. Too dark le.. I'm thinking if I should go there tomorrow.. Hmm.. Lesson is at 2. I might be able to spare some time for both Malay Village and Chinatown.. Which one should I go first?!?!?! =/

Bad day..

Today started out quite nicely, with the prospect of taking some good pictures.. Went for Masina tutorial, had some assignment to do cos Brian Lee (the lecturer) lost his voice.. Was done at 11am, went out of class and my mood swung from happy to SIAN! Juz like the damn weather.

11am only and it seemed like 6.30pm. It wasn't good. Overcast day, gonna rain like shit. Spoiling my plans to take photo! Argh!! So din really have an idea where to go la. Met BLoh at the bus stop, and he suggested that I can go Geylang to take some pictures (at Aljunied MRT there), so I thought ok, I shall go there. But before that, wanted to check out Toa Payoh first.. Hopped onto 157 but when it reached macritchie, remembered that Macritchie is the first reservoir in SIngapore, so.. it's heritage isn't it?! So yah.. Alighted at Macritchie.. and took out my cam. Came to this little concrete hut.. Can see it's quite old. So stopped to take some pictures. Managed to take 2 and was working out the angles when a old and grumpy and f-ed up voice shouted from behind

"EH! WHY ARE YOU TAKING PICTURES?"

Stunned by the outburst, I turned back and saw a old man (park ranger) walking towards me. And he repeated his qn of why I was taking pictures, giving that very bu shuang face.

"For project use." was my reply.

"You all ah, always say projek projek, you know you have to ask permission not. yada yada.."

By this time, he's in front of me liao. and he said "This is government building, you take pictures must ask permission. I think I better take down your Name and IC number." and he tried taking out his pen and paper. (I think he was trying to intimidate me) But I promptly reached for my wallet and gave him my NP EZ-Link card, to prove my claim that I'm a student. But well, after I took out, I dunno where his pen and paper go, din take down my particulars but just shoo me away. ya, as in really. "Aiya.. I think you better go away ah.. Dun take pikcher here ah.." And he continued talking crap.. while i just turned and walk away, he was still "screaming" behind me.. Fuck! How irritating is that.. I so wanted to tell him to put a fucking "No Photography" sign on that hut instead of the fucking "No Smoking". It's darn lame can.

Ok, I mean I understand it maybe one of the numerous redundant, irrelavant and irritating laws that SIngapore has, that the rangers have to ober and enforce. But fuck, can't he tell me in a nicer way?! I so feel like strangling him, I was already damn irritated with the bad weather and he had to come to make things worse.. I mean.. Going to a fucking nature reserve and reservoir park and you can't take pictures?!?!? Or maybe it's just cos I was focusing on a damn hut. But still! It's not like there was a sign to tell me or any other person that the hut allows no photography?!!?! I think it's at most a pump house or wad la.. Damn.. Rangers should really get some Customer service trg..

Ok. So bo bian and headed to Toa Payoh instead. Walked around abit.. See the sky sian. Was deciding if I should go home. But decided to go Aljunied via train after having lunch at BK. Ended up alighting at City Hall, cos I remember telling myself to get some pictures there. City Hall itself is surely heritage enough! But....... It was raining quite heavily.. So ended up walking around at Peninsula and Funan looking at soccer and photography stuffs..

Took a bus to Chinatown after that. Bought Corrine May's new album "Safe in a Crazy World".. Nice! Also bought JJ Lim's "No 89757".. Two nice albums I've got! Whoo.. Only highlight of the day. Haha.

Managed to go to Aljunied eventually.. Walked the back alleys and realised some of those buildings are really left untouched, looks older than those in Chinatown! So snapped some pictures here and there.. Lighting was quite bad, cos the sky wasn't clearing up after the rain.. So decided I should just finish that half-roll left in the cam and call it a day.. Hope it turns out well.. Bought FM2005. Hhaha... After sucha long time, finally got it! Quite nice to play.. =D

Anyway, seriously hope I can take some good pictures.. Feel good doing that and seeing it on the print! =D

Bored...

Super sian.. Went school today to develop film.. Got more and more tired by the minute.. So never do contact sheet and headed straight home. Slp like a log on the bus and after I came home. Sigh.. My days should be more meaningful..

Weekend, was ok. Got the car to myself and went around taking pictures at places like Tanjong Pagar train station (as in the rail).. Choa Chu Kang.. And Queesntown area.. Nothing spectacular from what I see on the film for today.. Got another roll inside the cam.. Hope it'll be much better. Can't wait for the holidays man... But damn sian after I learnt that it'll be for 6 weeks only. Grrr... School reopens on 31 OCt! How sucky is that?! Bah!

Another Thursday..

Ok, it's been awhile since I blogged..

Today, went to school for the first Masina tutorial! It's like.. the 12th week of sem now, and this is the first tutoriaL!! And the module is examinable! Kaoz.. Well, after lesson. Went to collect my print and sent down for mounting at holland v.

After that, was deciding where to go. Straight to Chinatown or to Queenstown to take photos. Decided to go Queenstown as it'd be a new "challenge". So, took a bus to clementi to change to train. As the bloody train was heading east to Queesntown. I sensed the sky getting darker and darker.. No Good! Need the sunlight to shine man! Anyway, alighted at Queenstown, stayed at the platform level to look around to see if there's anything great to take. (You see, HDB has been gazetting so many old blocks and doing their En-bloc Redevelopment to earn more money, that I think my Hougang looks older than Toa Payoh now..) -.- Well, less than 2 mins after my train left, it started pouring.. So sian diao. No choice.. Waited for the next train to head to Chinatown.. Managed to take some pics eventually and den went to my uncle's shop to nuah awhile.

My aunt-in-law told me that my little nephew has been having nightmares and can't sleep well after watching "The Day After Tomorrow" on DVD with us on National Day. He was actually enjoying it then.. But, I think he thinks too much liao la. And well, just now I went upstairs of the shop to get a drink, he just happened to wake up, was sitting up. Siti (the maid) was busy in the kitchen. So I went into the room and see nephew sobbing away, rready to wail liao. Piang eh.. This little kid really think too much sometimes le ba.. Hmm..

Anyway, contemplating if I should get up early in the morning tomorrow to go to like Chinatown or something to shoot. Or better still, go to towns like Queenstown or wad. Or maybe can wait till Saturday.. Tml night working for Co-Org at an event, hope it'll be fun! ;)

Lazy Thursday..

It's 10.30 in the morning.. It's pouring outside.. Sigh. Had wanted to go out and take some pictures for Photo Journ module.. It's fun! Especially being alone and just snapping pictures, basically in your own world kind of thing.. =D Got back my first 2 assignment for the module.. Got A and A-! Wahhaha.. And the test I got A! Muahahha.. Ok la, test was actually gone through by the teacher the week b4 le.. So if never get good marks it's really shooting yourself in the head.. Hehe...

I wonder if I can take good pictures for the final assignment.. Wayne (the teacher) keep asking me to go closer and take close up shots. No use giving him a full picture of one whole building. "Let the viewer think for himself." he said. Hmm.. A little hard man... It's a little too abstract sia.. But I'll have to try.. Try to make photojourn my 2nd A module since I'm in Mass COmm! Wahhahaha.. But impressing Wayne wun be an easy job..

Free the whole day, no lesson. Sianz.. But rain means I can't go anywhere.. Boohoo.. Maybe I should go airport to nuah. Haha.. And probably sort out my thoughts.. If any.. =p

How Deep Is Your Love..

I know your eyes in the morning sun,
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain.
And the moment that you wander far from me,
I want to feel you in my arms again.

And you come to me on a summer breeze,
Keep me warm with your love,
And then softly leave.
It is me you need to show

(Chorus)
How Deep Is Your Love
I really need to know,
Cos we're living in a world of fools, breaking us down.
When they all should let us be.
We belong to you and me.

I believe in you.
You know the door to my very soul.
You're the light in my deepest darkest hour,
You're my saviour when I fall.
And you may not think I care for you.
When you know down inside,
That I really do.
And it's me you need to show

(Chorus)

Was just listening to Bee Gees' One Night Only cd.. Never fail to blow my mind off.. And this song in particular never fails to do so..
