Festivals..
It's Christmas eve. Went to Jo's church that night to watch her perform in a play, basically discussing what is Christmas and why people celebrate it... Which really bring up the point of festivals, what are they and why celebrate them. Why are the common festivals still pretty much celebrated, while alot others are ditched or forgotten? Other than allocated public holidays playing a part in the mood to celebrate, I guess the material gains in the festivals also play a part.Christmas, a very much commercialised festival in Singaporeans' eyes. Presents and more presents. The original meaning of Christmas to celebrate the birth of a saviour in Jesus is slowly eroding.. Having just celebrated Dong Zhi on Sunday, I also wondered why Dong Zhi has lost much of its significance to Chinese compared to 50 years ago. Dong Zhi was a big festival really.. So, what's left for the Chinese is a Chinese New Year. Now, what is Chinese New Year? Will the younger generations care two-hoots about it if not for ang pows?Anyway, the past week was spent catching up with relatives and old friends, and eating my favourites. Lastly, Merry Christmas to all.. =)
Back home!
Back on Singapore soil! Whee.. It feels good to be back. And the NE monsoon and the wind in my room is something I enjoy every year-end and something I'm dying for after a few days of intense heat in the summer Aussie sun. Haha...Gonna take a nap now since I didn't get to sleep well last night, but I concussed for most of the journey last night. Haha... YAWN... And, I had my prata! hehe.. Thinking of what to eat for lunch now. Hehe...
Internet again
I'm half way home! Literally.. I'm done with my travels with my family. Excellent stuffs. The 2 weeks were spent sight-seeing at a leisurely pace, enjoyed food of Aussie. And of course, I scuba-dived for the first time in my life. Haha.. Shiokness.. I'll probably be posting pics only when I get back to Singapore, cos my sis took all the memory card back with her.. Maybe can preview some photos if she upload pics to FB and tag me. Hehe. In Perth now, staying at Mel's place. Going to go to a place called Kalbina (or sth like tht) tml with Mel.. Her first time to that place too, so gonna be quite good cos she'll be travelling also, rather than bringing me to places she's been bringing others to see, like a tour guide like that.. Hehe.. And we played a "act high-class" (quoted from Gab) golf game.. Quite fun. Haha, can't believe I lost by a stroke! Dammit. Siannnn.... Anyway, it was fun and really lots of stupid moments, caught on cam. Haha. Share with the gang when back. =pIt feels good to be this close to home, in terms on the days left. Hehe.. And coming to Perth really feels good too, to be with a close fren.. It's really halfway home. Pity Jo can't be here while I'm here.. Wasted. -.-" So see u guys really soon. Cheers!
